In Paris, China and Europe discuss investment in EVs and clean energy
Chinese and European financial leaders gathered in Paris on Tuesday to explore new investment opportunities, with electric vehicles, clean energy and digital finance among the main areas of discussion.
The China-EU Financial Investment Forum was held simultaneously in Beijing and Paris as part of the Annual Conference of Financial Street Forum 2026.
Participants focused on cross-border industrial investment, supply chain resilience and projects supporting the green transformation of the economy.
Olivier Vigna, CEO of Paris EUROPLACE, said China and France have significant potential to expand cooperation in digital and green finance.
He pointed to tokenization, stablecoins and tokenized bank deposits as promising areas. Paris EUROPLACE is responsible for developing and promoting the French financial market internationally.
French economist Ni Jincheng identified clean energy as another major opportunity, ranging from wind power to green hydrogen. He also said European countries should more clearly define industries and projects considered strategically sensitive for security reasons, while allowing market competition and investment in other sectors.
The forum comes amid growing interest from Chinese and European companies in cooperation involving electric vehicles, energy, digital technologies and financial infrastructure.
The four-day Annual Conference of Financial Street Forum 2026 is being held in Beijing under the theme "Building an Open, Collaborative and Inclusive Ecosystem for Global Financial Development."
According to CCTV+, participants at the China-EU investment forum see clean energy, electric vehicles and digital finance as some of the most promising areas for future cooperation.
