The 116th Session of the Council of the International Organization for Migration (IOM) opened in Geneva on December 8. During the session, which runs until December 10, participants are addressing current international migration issues, including the crucial link between migration and development, strategic directions for the Organization’s activities, and statements from Member States.

Mr. Bayramov articulated Turkmenistan’s key position on migration policy, emphasizing that effective management of migration processes requires coordinated international interaction and a comprehensive approach. He noted that this participation fully aligns with the country’s status of permanent neutrality and its adherence to the principles of international law.

The representative of Turkmenistan underscored the importance of integrating global frameworks, including the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and the Global Compacts on Migration and Refugees, into national development strategies.
