Turkmenistan and Pakistan Strengthen Ties: Scholarships and Student Exchange Were Discussed
On December 3, 2025, a productive meeting was held between the Minister of Education of Turkmenistan, Jumamyrat Gurbangeldiyev, and the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan to Turkmenistan, Faryal Legari.
During the meeting, held in a traditionally friendly atmosphere, the main focus was placed on strengthening cooperation between the higher educational institutions of the two countries. The parties emphasized the need for effective implementation of existing agreements and the conclusion of new mutual accords.
Minister Jumamyrat Gurbangeldiyev briefed the Ambassador on Turkmenistan’s efforts to improve the quality of education and highlighted the successful participation of Pakistani youth in international conferences and Olympiads organized by Turkmen universities.
The Ambassador of Pakistan highly praised the ongoing reforms in Turkmenistan and expressed interest in further expanding the partnership. In particular, the following concrete opportunities were discussed:
• Scholarship-based education for Turkmen youth at universities in Pakistan.
• Implementation of student exchange programs.
• Organization of mutual familiarization visits by educational delegations of both countries.
At the end of the meeting, both parties reaffirmed their strong interest in further developing cooperation and their commitment to implementing new joint educational initiatives.
