On December 6, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov signed a decree pardoning 231 citizens of the country in honor of International Neutrality Day (December 12) and the 30th anniversary of Turkmenistan's permanent neutrality.

The decision was made at an expanded meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers, which was also attended by the heads of Turkmenistan's diplomatic missions abroad.

The head of state noted that it has become a noble tradition in Turkmenistan to pardon citizens who "regret their actions and sincerely repent of them," releasing them from further punishment.

Secretary of the State Security Council Begench Gundogdyev reported on the results of the Commission's work on preparing proposals on pardon issues. After hearing the report, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov signed a decree pardoning 231 convicted individuals.

The Chairman of the Commission, together with the heads of law enforcement agencies, was instructed to take all necessary measures to ensure that all those released from prison could return to their families as soon as possible.

The President of Turkmenistan gave the pardoned citizens the following advice: to work conscientiously and serve their homeland, and to enjoy the fruits of their honest labor by actively participating in society.
