Turkmenistan and Japan confirmed their intention to accelerate preparations for the first-ever summit of the leaders of the Central Asia + Japan Dialogue. This was announced following a meeting on November 25. Turkmenistan's Ambassador to Tokyo, Atadurdy Bayramov, met with Japanese Parliamentary Vice-Minister of Foreign Affairs, Eri Arfiya.

During the talks, the parties not only confirmed their readiness for close cooperation in the international arena but also emphasized their continued joint efforts to convene the Central Asia + Japan Dialogue summit as soon as possible.

This meeting, held at the highest political level, effectively confirms the relevance of reports in leading Japanese media.

According to Jiji Press and NHK news agencies, the Japanese government, led by Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi, is finalizing preparations for the first-ever summit with the leaders of Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan, scheduled to take place in Tokyo in mid-December 2025.

The summit aims to elevate long-standing cooperation from the ministerial level to the heads of state/government level to strengthen economic security and expand partnerships in strategic areas such as infrastructure and decarbonization.

As part of the bilateral dialogue, Ambassador Bayramov also discussed with Parliamentary Vice Minister Arfiya the participation of a high-level Japanese delegation in the commemorative events dedicated to the 30th anniversary of Turkmenistan's permanent neutrality, scheduled for Ashgabat in December 2025.
