The 10th meeting of the Joint Turkmen-Tatarstan Working Group on Trade, Economic, Scientific, Technical, and Cultural Cooperation was held in Ashgabat. A representative delegation, led by Oleg Korobchenko, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Industry and Trade of the Republic of Tatarstan, arrived in Turkmenistan to participate in the anniversary meeting.

The co-chairs acknowledged the high level of bilateral relations, noting their mutual desire to maximize the significant potential for joint projects. The parties reaffirmed their commitment to further deepening cooperation, identifying priority areas: trade and economic, oil and gas, energy, industrial, transport and logistics, as well as cooperation in agriculture, healthcare, and IT.

During the visit, Tatarstan representatives also met with the leadership of the Turkmennebit and Turkmengaz state concerns, the Turkmenenergo corporation, as well as with representatives of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs.

Oleg Korobchenko emphasized that Tatarstan companies—Tatneft (oil and gas), KER-Holding (energy and industry), and Kazan Helicopters—are already successfully implementing a number of large and promising projects in Turkmenistan. The republic is interested in expanding economic and investment ties, primarily in mechanical engineering, energy, and oil production.

Turkmenistan is one of the largest consumers of KAMAZ vehicles in Central Asia. The depth of this cooperation is demonstrated by the fact that the brand's fleet in the country exceeds 10,000 units.

Deputy Prime Minister Oleg Korobchenko announced plans to open a Tatarstan Trade House in Turkmenistan. This measure is intended to significantly increase bilateral trade turnover, which, according to 2024 data, amounted to approximately $35 million. The head of the Tatarstan delegation expressed confidence that, thanks to intensified cooperation, this figure will increase to $50 million this year.

It was particularly emphasized that the reforms being implemented in Turkmenistan, as well as the focus on diversifying and digitalizing the economy, are creating new and extensive opportunities for joint projects.
