Turkmenistan Strengthens Its Position in the Digital Economy: Results of the International Conference "Türkmentel — 2025"
Ashgabat, Turkmenistan — Last week, the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Turkmenistan hosted the international conference and exhibition "Türkmentel — 2025," as well as the international conference "International Transport and Communication Corridors: Interconnection and Development — 2025." The combination of these two significant events at one venue was a landmark event for telecommunications industry specialists, demonstrating Turkmenistan's commitment to integrating modern technologies into the economy and public life.
According to Guljemal Gurbanova, leading specialist in the Digital Economy Development Department of Turkmentelecom under the Ministry of Communications, the country continues to purposefully introduce innovations in the digital sector. Recent achievements include the launch of high-speed 5G internet in the town of Arkadag, at the foot of the Kopetdag Mountains, providing citizens with access to modern digital services.
Turkmentelecom specialists are implementing strategic objectives in accordance with the Digital Economy Development Concept for 2019–2025, and a new concept for 2026–2028 was recently adopted. According to the updated document, digitalization of all economic sectors and raising service levels to international standards remain the state's top priorities.
The annual "Digital Solution" innovation competition, organized by the Ministry of Communications since 2020, once again demonstrated the potential of young scientists and students. The "Digital Solution 2025" competition featured projects that reflect the latest discoveries and technologies capable of defining the future of Turkmenistan's digital economy.
"We are proud that our young specialists are proposing innovations that can change the approach to developing the country's digital infrastructure," Gurbanova emphasized. "Their discoveries will be integrated into practical work to implement digital solutions at all levels of the economy."
The Ministry of Communications of Turkmenistan, through the introduction of modern technologies, is gradually transforming the country into a key information hub in Central Asia. The extensive communication routes linking East to West and North to South allow the country to strengthen its position in the global information space.
Separately worth noting is the historic contribution of 2015, when Turkmenistan became a space-faring nation and the "TürkmenÄlem 52°E" satellite was launched into orbit. This step provided the population with access to modern communications and became a landmark event in the industry's history, symbolizing the state's strategic vision for technological development.
