Negotiations on strengthening the energy partnership between Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan were held in Tashkent. The meeting was also attended by executives and representatives of the two countries' fuel and energy companies. The parties confirmed that bilateral relations in the sector are developing consistently and effectively, thanks to the personal initiatives of Presidents Serdar Berdimuhamedov and Shavkat Mirziyoyev.

As previously proposed by Turkmen President Serdar Berdimuhamedov, cooperation in the energy partnership extends beyond pipeline projects. Attention shifted to the electricity sector as the foundation for the future sustainability of Central Asia.

In this context, the parties discussed further deepening cooperation on the supply and transit of Turkmen electricity to Uzbekistan, as well as the implementation of joint projects in the fuel and energy sector. Turkmenistan confirmed its readiness to discuss concrete steps to create a powerful electricity generation and supply network in the region. The goal of these steps is to create a reliable material base for the sustainability of the entire electricity supply system.

The meeting participants agreed to jointly implement tasks to further develop mutually beneficial and constructive cooperation in the fuel and energy sector, including the effective implementation of all initiatives agreed upon by the leaders of the two countries.
