Turkmen export to Singapore increased four-fold


In 2017, the highest growth rates of Turkmen exports came to Singapore, where it delivered products worth about $ 64.5 million. According to the State Statistics Committee of Turkmenistan, shipments to this faraway country increased by 83.2%.
The basis of exports were mineral fuel and petroleum products sent from Turkmenistan to Singapore for the first time. The export of fabrics and yarn from cotton, as well as cotton fiber, has increased.
In total, 108.4 thousand tons of products were sent to Singapore. In 2016 this figure was 25.2 thousand tons.
In July 2016, the special envoy of the Minister of Transport of Singapore, Yap Ong Heng, visited the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan where issues of cooperation between our countries in the field of aviation and maritime transport were discussed with the guest.
In October last year, the President of Singapore, Halima Jakob, sent an official letter to President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, in which she expressed her desire to expand cooperation with Turkmenistan.
Obviously, the strengthening of ties served as prerequisites for further increase in trade turnover.
The distance from Ashgabat to the city of Singapore (the capital of Singapore) is about 6 thousand kilometers.
