From October 10 to 12, 2025, within the framework of the international exhibition and scientific conference held in Ashgabat, a series of key working meetings took place, aimed at strengthening cooperation between Turkmenistan and the United Kingdom in the fields of education and science.

Talks with leaders of British education

On October 11, at the Chamber of Commerce and Industry, negotiations were held between representatives of the Ministry of Education of Turkmenistan, headed by Deputy Minister Azat Ataev, and a delegation of leading British academic institutions.

The meeting was attended by representatives of the following prestigious organizations:

• Cambridge University Press and Assessment (Stephen King)

• Pearson (Arkadiusz Jaworski)

• Norwich Institute for Language Education (Tom Kiddle)

• Heriot-Watt University (Jared Philip and Beata Krytal)

The talks also included heads of Turkmen higher educational institutions — the International University for the Humanities and Development, the International University of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs, and the Turkmen National Institute of World Languages named after Dovletmammed Azadi.

Master classes and new areas of cooperation

British representatives conducted practical master classes for teachers and students of English. The sessions focused on modern teaching methodologies, language assessment techniques, digital learning resources, and preparation for international examinations.

The parties discussed new strategic directions of partnership, including:

• Academic mobility and professional development of teachers;

• Digitalization of education and joint programs in the field of STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics);

• Development of joint educational and research projects.

These events became an important step towards further expanding strategic partnership, strengthening staff capacity, and improving the quality of education in Turkmenistan in accordance with international standards.
