On October 9, Minister of Education of Turkmenistan J. Gurbangeldiyev met with a Malaysian delegation led by Datuk Seri Shamsul Iskandar Mohd Akin, Chief Political Secretary to the Prime Minister. The parties discussed current priorities of the national education system and outlined new directions for bilateral cooperation.

The talks focused on strengthening ties between higher education institutions of the two countries and on the effective implementation of existing agreements.

The Minister of Education of Turkmenistan expressed gratitude to the Malaysian side for its active participation in the international exhibition and scientific conference “Healthcare, Education and Sports in the Revival of the New Era of the Powerful State.” It was noted with confidence that the delegation’s visit—aimed at gaining deeper insight into Turkmen universities—would open new opportunities for the development of bilateral educational relations.

In turn, Shamsul Iskandar thanked the Turkmen side for the invitation to the international forum. He noted the wide potential for cooperation in the field of education and presented several specific proposals aimed at strengthening it.

At the conclusion of the meeting, both sides reaffirmed their mutual interest in the further dynamic development of cooperation and expressed readiness to implement new projects and joint educational initiatives. This meeting marks an important step toward the internationalization of Turkmenistan’s education system.
