At Turkmenistan’s Engineering and Technology University named after Oguzhan, Foreign Languages Week dedicated to English and Japanese was celebrated with great enthusiasm. Organized by faculty and active students, the event combined cultural traditions with language practice, becoming a memorable highlight in the university’s academic life.

Cultural Exchange and Origami Mastery

One of the central highlights was an exhibition of Japanese culture. Students presented national costumes, literature, and, most importantly, numerous origami creations. Handcrafted figures of birds, flowers, and animals decorated the exhibition tables, with explanations provided in both English and Japanese. The university’s windows and walls were adorned with elements of Japanese art, including calligraphy and symbolic cherry blossom motifs.

Language Practice and Fostering Interest

Throughout the week, engaging games and competitions were held for students of the foreign languages and linguistics departments, with particular attention to first-year students. Participants actively engaged in dialogues in foreign languages, performed short skits, and solved puzzles, thereby strengthening their language skills.

At the closing ceremony, students noted that the week not only increased their interest in Japan and improved their English skills but also helped them feel part of the international community. Faculty emphasized that such a wide range of cultural activities strengthened intercultural understanding and enriched the university’s academic atmosphere.
