On October 1, Foreign Minister of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov met with UNICEF Representative Jalpa Ratna at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The purpose of the meeting was to discuss practical steps to implement UNICEF's new Country Program for Turkmenistan for 2026–2030.

This five-year program, which defines the strategy for cooperation between the Government of Turkmenistan and UNICEF, was approved by the UNICEF Executive Board in New York on September 3 of this year.

The parties exchanged views on advancing collaboration, focusing on the key areas of the new strategy, which reflect current global and national priorities:

Early Childhood Development. Promoting children's holistic development and well-being;

Inclusion. Ensuring inclusion and equal opportunities for all children;

Climate Agenda. Integrating climate change adaptation and sustainable development into child-focused programs.

Youth Engagement. Expanding opportunities for youth to actively participate in public life.

The talks also discussed the participation of a representative UNICEF delegation in the International Forum on Peace and Trust, which will be held in Ashgabat in December. UNICEF's participation in this event will highlight the importance of humanitarian diplomacy and the protection of children's rights in the context of global peace and stability.

At the end of the meeting, the parties discussed further strengthening the legal framework for cooperation, confirming their commitment to implementing all the goals outlined within the 2026–2030 Country Programme.
