On 30 September 2025, a briefing was organized at the Embassy of Turkmenistan in Uzbekistan dedicated to the 34th anniversary of Turkmenistan’s Independence, the results of the recently held the meeting of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan, and the Third UN Conference on Landlocked Developing Countries.

The briefing was attended by heads and representatives of foreign embassies, international organizations, public associations, mass media, as well as Turkmen students studying in Uzbekistan.

During the briefing, the Ambassador of Turkmenistan to Uzbekistan, Mr. Shadurdy Meredov, the UN Resident Coordinator in Uzbekistan, Ms. Sabine Machl, and Director of the International Institute of Central Asia, Mr. Jawlon Vakhabov delivered speeches.

In their speeches, they highlighted the achievements of Turkmenistan during the years of independence under the wise leadership of the President of Turkmenistan, and the National Leader of the Turkmen People, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan. They also emphasized the international initiatives put forward by the President of Turkmenistan, Serdar Berdimuhamedov during the 80th anniversary session of the UN General Assembly, within the framework of Turkmenistan's peaceful neutrality policy, and the outcomes of the Third UN Conference on Landlocked Developing Countries.

In addition, the speakers emphasised that the meeting of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan had addressed key issues of state and social development, including ensuring a prosperous and happy life for the population and strengthening economic growth.

In particular, Ambassador Sh. Meredov, in his speech, emphasized the historic significance of the 30th anniversary of Turkmenistan’s permanent neutrality, and highlighted the importance of strengthening cooperation in the Year of International Peace and Trust.

Furthermore, the UN Resident Coordinator in Uzbekistan, Ms. Sabine Machl underlined the special importance of the announcement of the Avaza Programme of Action for 2024–2034 and the adoption of the Avaza Political Declaration during the Third UN Conference on Landlocked Developing Countries held in the Avaza National Tourist Zone. She also expressed deep gratitude to the Turkmen side for its active engagement in international cooperation.

In addition, the Director of the International Institute of Central Asia, Mr. Jawlon Vahabov, emphasized that in recent years, the strategic partnership between Turkmenistan and the Republic of Uzbekistan has reached a fundamentally new level. In this context, he expressed his best wishes for the continued prosperity of Turkmen-Uzbek friendship, under the efforts of the two countries’ Heads of state.

At the end of the event, participants were served Turkmen national dishes.
