The new Medical Center in Turkmenabat to receive patients from Afghanistan


The largest in the country and Central Asia, a multipurpose Medical Center, and nearby the hospital – a residential complex for health professionals are opened in the administrative center of Lebap velayat of Turkmenistan, the city of Turkmenabat. The total area of the Medical Center site is about 50,000 square meters, and consists of a multipurpose hospital and an infectious diseases hospital. NAHAL Economic Society has implemented the large investment project. The main feature of the new complex is that, the medical care will be delivered to patients not only of our country, but also to those from neighboring countries, including Afghanistan. The hospital boasts a helipad for medical helicopters used to transport emergency patients, and the specialists of the complex can keep contact with foreign colleagues using specialized means of communication. The main five-story building with a capacity of 676 beds houses the departments of cardiology, endocrinology, central and peripheral nervous system disorders rheumatology, obstetrician-gynecologist, pediatrician, ophthalmology and otorhinolaryngology. The 24-hour emergency department of the hospital and the trauma center are equipped with state-of-the-art equipment to diagnose accurately and to provide prompt assistance, including surgical care. Department of Anesthesiology and Resuscitation of the Center is designed for 24 beds with a separate ward for each patient. There are angiography department to diagnose condition and vascular permeability, as well as to treat cardiovascular diseases. The multifunctional laboratory of the medical center has modern equipment for carrying out clinical, biochemical, bacteriological, cytological and many other studies. There is also a department of gastroenterology. The 3-story multipurpose hospital is home to a 160-bed Center for Infectious Disease Treatment and Prevention. The first floor of the building accommodates an admissions department with a separate ward for each patient. In severe cases, patients suffering from infectious diseases are isolated in special wards until a definite diagnosis is made and symptomatic treatment is prescribed. Nearby the hospital is a residential complex for health-care workers. The complex, consisting of 6 large-panel 4-story apartment buildings, 3-room and 4-room apartments, is intended for nearly 200 families. This state-of-the-art medical center will provide with job the hundreds of highly qualified specialists, including graduates of the State Medical University of the country.
