OSCE Holds Climate Seminar for Students in Ashgabat


On June 11–12, the OSCE Centre in Ashgabat hosted a two-day student seminar entitled “Inclusive Engagement and Equal Participation in Climate Action.” The educational project was organized within the framework of the OSCE’s global programme aimed at strengthening environmental security and cooperation in Central Asia. This was reported on the official website of the Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan.
The event brought together students from leading higher education institutions of the capital. Participants included future specialists from the Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, the International University for the Humanities and Development (IUHD), the Oguz Han Engineering and Technology University, the Myrat Garryyev State Medical University, and the Turkmen State Architecture and Construction Institute.
The primary objective of the intensive course was to raise young people’s awareness of the impact of climate change on regional and global security. Renowned international experts addressed the participants, sharing analytical insights into contemporary environmental policy. During the practical part of the seminar, students applied their newly acquired knowledge in an interactive simulation, independently developing and presenting a draft Youth Resolution on Climate Cooperation.
Participation in such projects provides young people with an excellent opportunity to develop leadership skills and gain practical experience in negotiations. During the interactive sessions, students demonstrated a high level of analytical thinking and strong proficiency in foreign languages. The experience gained and the deep understanding of international environmental diplomacy will serve as a valuable advantage in their future professional and diplomatic careers.
