Azerbaijani expert is confident that in 2020 Caspian gas will enter the European market

The first supplies of "blue fuel" from the Caspian region to Europe will begin in 2020, after which the project participants will gradually increase the capacity of this route. This is stated with confidence by the head of the Azerbaijani Center for Petroleum Research Ilham Shaban, according to whom, such an assumption is supported by weighty arguments. According to him, the European Commission has long advocated the diversification of natural gas supplies to the EU countries, and the most real sources of such diversification are gas from Azerbaijan, Turkmenistan, Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan. The Azerbaijani expert believes that the first stage of the Southern Gas Corridor with the final point in the EU zone will be launched in 2018, which greatly facilitates the implementation of the project of gas transportation from Central Asia to Europe, expanding the infrastructure of export of Caspian gas to global markets. Now the goal is the construction of the pipeline along the bottom of the Caspian Sea, so that the "blue fuel" from the right bank of the Caspian could enter the Southern Gas Corridor. Ilham Shaban also reminded that in 2015 representatives of the Azerbaijani, Turkmen and Turkish foreign ministries established a commission on energy partnership, which meets annually and discusses the development of cooperation in this field.
