Preparations for the Track Cycling World Cup and the Davis Cup are underway in Ashgabat


Today, on Sunday, the Organizing Committee for the 2021 World Track Cycling Championships and the Davis Cup International Tennis Tournament stage in Ashgabat convened its first meeting. The tournaments will be held on October 13-17 and September 6-12, respectively, in the Olympic Park of the capital.
At the request of ORIENT, the Ministry of Sports and Youth Policy reported that during the meeting of the organizing committee, the composition of which was appointed by the decree of the country’s President, there were solved the priority tasks for holding international competitions in the above-mentioned sports in Ashgabat. By the way, they are very popular among the Turkmen youth.
Among them, there were touched upon a number of topical issues of a technical nature, including the approval of the roadmap, the involvement of foreign specialists in the preparation and conduct of competitions, ensuring security, preparing festive, sports and training uniforms, attracting volunteers, interpreters, and etc.
As previously reported, President Berdimuhamedov ordered the country’s sports authorities, in coordination with the sports federations of Turkmenistan, as well as with the International Tennis Federation and the International Cycling Union, to prepare and approve the Regulations on holding this year’s World Track Cycling Championships and Davis Cup elimination competitions in the Asia-Oceania zonal group.
As previously reported, during a recent visit to the Olympic Park, President Berdimuhamedov was informed about the preparations for the upcoming international tournaments, including the possibility for foreign athletes to get a free vaccination against viral infections, including COVID-19.
Moreover, the Turkmen leader instructed the head of Ministry of Health and Medical Industry to provide immunization not only with the Russian Sputnik V officially registered in Turkmenistan, but also with other vaccines and special means. For this purpose, the President assigned to hold negotiations with foreign manufacturers of medical products.
According to the Turkmen Ministry of Sports, it is expected that men and women from about four dozen countries will compete in the 2021 World Track Cycling Championship in 10 categories, wherefore a total of 20 competitions will be organized.
