On June 2nd, the S.A. Niyazov Turkmen Agricultural University, in collaboration with the Ministries of Education and Agriculture of Turkmenistan, hosted an international competition for student scientific projects. The event commemorated the International Year of Peace and Trust, the 30th anniversary of Turkmenistan's permanent neutrality, World Environment Day, and Science Day.

The central theme of the competition was "The Role of Youth in Achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)." This marks the third iteration of this competition, which aims to strengthen international cooperation, foster connections among students, and cultivate their scientific interest.

During the opening remarks, it was highlighted that Turkmenistan was among the first nations to officially adopt all 17 United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. Emphasis was placed on how the country's socio-economic policies align with the SDGs, a fact further substantiated by the adoption of the Resolution "Permanent Neutrality of Turkmenistan" by the UN General Assembly.

The initial phase of the competition received 131 submissions from students in Turkmenistan and 13 foreign countries, including Russia, Azerbaijan, Iran, Turkey, Kazakhstan, China, Belarus, Latvia, Malaysia, Poland, Montenegro, and Slovenia. Thirty-six projects advanced to the second stage, particularly recognized for their valuable contributions to SDG areas such as zero hunger, clean water, affordable energy, climate action, and the conservation of marine and terrestrial ecosystems. These works are expected to make a significant contribution to global efforts toward achieving sustainable development.
