Turkmenistan invited the head of the European Commission to the Peace Forum in Ashgabat

Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Turkmenistan to the Kingdom of Belgium Sapar Palvanov conveyed to diplomatic adviser to the President of the European Commission Elisabetta Belloni an official invitation from National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Khalk Maslakhaty Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov addressed to the head of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen to take part in the International Forum of Peace and Trust. The forum will be held on December 12, 2025 in Ashgabat.

During the meeting, it was emphasized that the upcoming event is dedicated to the 30th anniversary of Turkmenistan's permanent neutrality and will be held in the context of the 80th anniversary of the United Nations. Its goal is to unite the efforts of the world community in strengthening global peace, stability and trust.

The parties also discussed the current state and prospects for the development of relations between Turkmenistan and the European Union, noting the progressive dynamics of bilateral cooperation, especially after the anniversary meeting of the EU and Central Asian Foreign Ministers in Ashgabat and the first EU-Central Asia summit. Ambassador Palvanov stressed the importance of practical implementation of the agreements reached at the highest level.

The Turkmen side expressed its readiness to expand cooperation with the EU in such priority areas as energy, transport, critical raw materials, education and scientific and technical exchange, as well as to dialogue on key issues on the regional and global agenda.

Both sides confirmed their mutual interest in further developing cooperation between Turkmenistan and the European Union in a wide range of areas, from economics and humanitarian contacts to environmental protection, remaining committed to common efforts to maintain sustainable development and international peace.
