Russia and Turkmenistan intensify Inter-Parliamentary relations


On April 6th, on the sidelines of the 150th Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union held in Tashkent, the Chairperson of the Mejlis of Turkmenistan, Dunyagozel Gulmanova, met with the Chairperson of the Federation Council of the Russian Federation, Valentina Matviyenko.
Taking the opportunity, the Chairperson of the Federation Council conveyed her best wishes to the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, and the President of Turkmenistan, Serdar Berdimuhamedov. She specifically noted that distinguished guests from Turkmenistan are expected in Moscow for the celebration of the 80th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War.
The Speaker of the Federation Council welcomed the Turkmen side's decision to join the cultural and educational project "Train of Memory" this year, in which descendants of victors and representatives of peoples from all 15 republics of the former USSR will participate.

Valentina Matviyenko also proposed initiating the preparation of a new inter-parliamentary agreement, as reported on the Federation Council's website.
The Speaker of the Federation Council invited Dunyagozel Gulmanova to pay an official visit to Russia.

Dunyagozel Gulmanova conveyed the greetings of the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, to Valentina Matviyenko. She emphasized the importance of strengthening Turkmen-Russian relations and expanding ties between the two countries. Dunyagozel Gulmanova confirmed Turkmenistan's interest in developing and concluding a bilateral inter-parliamentary agreement.
The Speaker of the Parliament of Turkmenistan, Ms. Gulmanova, invited the Chairperson of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation, Valentina Matviyenko, to participate in international events that will be held in Turkmenistan in honor of the 30th anniversary of Turkmenistan's permanent neutrality, which will be celebrated in the International Year of Peace and Trust in 2025.
