The agro-industrial complex of Turkmenistan exhibited impressive rates of investment absorption in the first quarter of the current year. According to the report presented by Deputy Prime Minister Tangryguly Atahallyyev at a government meeting on Saturday, the aggregate investment absorption plan for the agricultural sector was fulfilled by 262.9%.

For comparison, the growth rate in the corresponding period of the previous year was 124.2%. This positive trend can be attributed to both an increase in state capital investments and the active involvement of departmental structures in the implementation of agrarian reforms and programs.

The Ministry of Agriculture and Environmental Protection made the largest contribution to the overall result, fulfilling the quarterly plan by 147.7%.

The State Concern "Türkmenpagta", which oversees cotton growing and processing, also demonstrated significant growth, with its indicator reaching 140.1%.

Among other notable participants, the State Association "Türkmengallaönümleri" (Turkmen Grain) absorbed investment funds at a level of 129.7%.

The food industry enterprises (101.4%) and the livestock and poultry sectors (102.6%) performed somewhat more modestly, but stably.

The overall picture indicates a systematic strengthening of the investment component of agricultural policy. However, further development will necessitate not only a quantitative increase in capital investments but also, as noted by the President of Turkmenistan, constant attention to improving the volume and quality of agricultural products.

Separate instructions regarding the rational use of water and the introduction of modern water-saving technologies were addressed to the Deputy Prime Minister concerning the State Committee for Water Management, which also achieved high indicators of 132.5% in the first quarter.
