The KazanForum 2025 will host an international tournament of young chefs
From May 14th to 16th, as part of the KazanForum's cultural program, the Kazan Expo International Exhibition Center will be the venue for the Young Chefs International tournament. All forum guests will have the opportunity not only to observe the competition but also to sample the dishes prepared by the finalists.
This year, the tournament in Kazan anticipates over 100 participants – young chefs under the age of 25 from various countries, including Malaysia, Morocco, Russia, Senegal, Tunisia, Turkey, and others. Alongside their mentors, renowned restaurant chefs, they will prepare a three-course set menu using only local products from their respective countries. In the final round, each participant will present their dish to an international jury. The judging panel will consist of experienced chefs and leaders of restaurant associations from different nations.
It is worth recalling that in 2024, the Grand Prix was awarded to Ouadidi Ridouane, a chef from Morocco. "Our tournament follows a unique format. It is a world-first experience where the dishes prepared by the finalists are adapted for sale to guests. In all other well-known competitions, only the judges taste the food. Here, restaurants, in collaboration with the young chefs, will prepare the tournament dishes. Each bento box will offer a taste of national cuisines: appetizer, main course, dessert, and beverage" stated Mikhail Sharipov, the tournament director. This year, members of the international judging panel, who are also board members of restaurant and hotel associations in their respective countries, plan to sign a historic Memorandum on the principles of preserving and developing gastronomy in rural settlements. The memorandum aims to address the issue of talent drain from regional areas – small towns and villages.
