Kazakhstan increased imports of Turkmen products and expanded exports of several goods

In 2024, trade turnover between Kazakhstan and Turkmenistan demonstrated positive dynamics across several key sectors, as reported by LS.

A particularly notable increase was observed in imports from Turkmenistan, which nearly doubled, reaching 144.3 thousand tonnes. In monetary terms, the volume of supplies grew by 32.8%, amounting to $220.7 million.

Among the most sought-after goods from Turkmenistan was natural gas, the volume of which increased by 1.5 times, totaling 608.3 million cubic meters. Significant growth in Turkmenistan's deliveries to Kazakhstan was also recorded for:

Ceramic sanitary ware (toilets, bidets, washbasins) – by 1.5 times (106.7 thousand units);

Plastic tableware and containers – by 2.4 times (430.3 tonnes);

Sulfuric acid and oleum – by 178.4 times (66.9 thousand tonnes);

Turkmen furniture – by 38.7% (155.7 tonnes);

Clothing and bed linen – by 38.8% (1.5 thousand tonnes);

Tomatoes from Turkmenistan also gained popularity in the Kazakh market, with imports reaching 41.3 thousand tonnes last year (+16.2%).

Kazakhstan's exports also showed growth in a number of categories. Exports of potatoes to Turkmenistan increased by 2.2 times (18.5 thousand tonnes), and instant coffee exports rose by 1.5 times (993 tonnes). Additionally, in 2024, Kazakhstan commenced the supply of vegetable oil to Turkmenistan, exceeding 10 thousand tonnes.

Furthermore, significant increases were recorded in the export volumes of ferrous metals and related articles, by 2.1 times (83.1 thousand tonnes), as well as asbestos and barium sulfate, by 34.5% (70.5 thousand tonnes).

Earlier reports also indicated that Kazakhstan is considering participation in the construction of a gas pipeline in Turkmenistan

Moreover, Kazakhstan and Turkmenistan aim to increase bilateral trade to $1 billion annually, according to the Ambassador
