The head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan met with the Secretary General of the GECF
On Thursday, March 20, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov held a meeting with Secretary General of the Gas Exporting Countries Forum (GECF) Mohamed Hamel.
The parties discussed the current situation on the world energy markets and the prospects for cooperation between organizations and specialized structures. Particular attention was paid to the significant potential for developing an effective partnership in the gas sector.
An interested exchange of views took place regarding Turkmenistan's accession to the GECF, the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan reported.
The parties expressed confidence that the results of the International Conference "International Year of Peace and Trust: The Role of Interregional Economic Cooperation in Ensuring Sustainable Development" held in Ashgabat will give a significant impetus to the further expansion of cooperation in the energy sector.
The Turkmen side proposed to establish joint work on organizing trainings and seminars with the participation of GECF experts.
Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov invited GECF representatives to actively participate in the events held by Turkmenistan within the framework of the International Year of Peace and Trust.
