On March 13, the National Plan for Combating Human Trafficking for 2025–2029, approved by the decree of President Serdar Berdimuhamedov in January of this year, was presented at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan.

The event was attended by members of the Interdepartmental Commission for Combating Human Trafficking in Turkmenistan, heads and employees of diplomatic missions and representative offices of international organizations accredited in Ashgabat.

In his speech, Deputy Foreign Minister Akhmet Gurbanov drew attention to the importance of the new document developed by the Interdepartmental Commission on Combating Human Trafficking in close coordination with relevant international organizations, in particular, the International Organization for Migration (IOM) and the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC).

The Prosecutor General of Turkmenistan, Chairman of the Interdepartmental Commission on Combating Human Trafficking Begmurat Mukhamedov noted that the National Plan consists of five sections, which outline target measures, deadlines for their implementation, relevant indicators, and government agencies responsible for the implementation of the designated tasks.

The adoption of this document is aimed at strengthening the state system of guarantees, ensuring and protecting human rights and freedoms in Turkmenistan, fulfilling the country's international obligations, expanding cooperation with international organizations in the humanitarian sphere, and focusing on work related to preventing threats at the national level.

The participants of the presentation familiarized themselves in detail with the tasks and strategic directions recorded in the document and exchanged views on their practical implementation.
