On 5 March, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan hosted a meeting between Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Myahri Byashimova and a delegation of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) led by Managing Director of the Financial Institutions Department Francis Malige.

The main goal of the delegation's visit is to study the needs of Turkmenistan's banking sector and identify new potential areas of partnership with the EBRD.

During the meeting, the parties noted the long-term and fruitful nature of Turkmenistan's cooperation with the EBRD, which is reflected in the implementation of more than 80 projects, including those to promote trade, production, and the development of small and medium-sized businesses in the country.

A review of the EBRD's priorities in Turkmenistan was held, in particular export orientation, interaction with the country's banking sector, and assistance in the implementation of modern banking practices.

In addition, the parties discussed further cooperation, in particular the preparation of the EBRD country strategy for the coming period.
