The banks of Turkmenistan have increased lending volumes
In 2024, Turkmenistan's banks demonstrated a significant increase in lending. The volume of loans issued to the private sector, including small and medium-sized enterprises, has increased particularly noticeably.
The growth of lending to agricultural producers by 30.7% deserves special attention. This demonstrates government support for the agricultural sector and is aimed at increasing agricultural output.
In addition, there is a steady increase in mortgage lending, which indicates an increase in the availability of housing for citizens. In particular, as of January 1, 2025, the volume of mortgage loans issued to citizens for the purchase of real estate in the cities of Ashgabat and Arkadag, as well as in the velayats, increased by 16.2%. This data from the Central Bank was announced at a government meeting on Friday, according to the newspaper "Neutral Turkmenistan".
