On February 5, 2025, a meeting took place between the Permanent Representative of Turkmenistan to the United Nations Office at Geneva, H.E. Vepa Hajiyev, the Executive Director of the Geneva Peacebuilding Platform, Dr. Annyssa Bellal, and the Ambassador, Permanent Representative of the Permanent Delegation of the University for Peace to the UN and other international organizations, H.E. David Fernandez Puyana.

During the discussion, the parties emphasized the importance of trust as a key element in ensuring sustainable peace. In this regard, Ambassador Hajiyev reminded his counterparts that the year 2025 has been declared the "Year of Peace and Trust" by the UN General Assembly at the initiative of Turkmenistan. He also highlighted that this year marks the 30th anniversary of Turkmenistan’s Permanent Neutrality, which serves as a fundamental pillar of the country's foreign policy.

The participants also explored opportunities for cooperation in joint publications, project implementation, and the organization of planned events aimed at strengthening peace and trust at the international level. Both sides expressed their interest in further collaboration and underlined the importance of dialogue in promoting initiatives that contribute to global stability and security.
