In the United States, a new ultra-low latency internet service has been launched
The U.S. telecom operator Comcast has begun deploying a "ultra-low latency" technology based on the L4S (Low Latency, Low Loss, Scalable Throughput) standard.
This technology aims to improve internet connection quality, particularly for applications that require high data transfer speeds and minimal latency, such as video calls and online gaming. Rather than increasing bandwidth, L4S reduces the time required to transmit each data packet, significantly lowering latency.
During testing, Comcast was able to reduce latency by 78% in typical home usage. This means users can enjoy smoother gaming experiences and enhanced video call quality, which is particularly important given the growing popularity of remote work and online entertainment. The technology is already available in cities like Atlanta, Chicago, and San Francisco, with plans for further deployment in other regions. Companies such as Apple, Nvidia, and Valve have already begun collaborating with Comcast to integrate L4S into their products, opening up new opportunities for users.
