At the Turkmenfilm Association named after “Oguzhan”, filming has commenced for a full-length feature film dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War. The film, tentatively titled "A Girl's Vow" ("Gyz kasamy"), is directed by Sahysalyh Bayramov. The screenplay is written by Akmyrat Rejepov and Bazarkul Shalyev, whose eponymous poem inspired the filmmakers. This new work by Turkmen cinematographers is dedicated to the heroic deeds of Turkmen soldiers who fell on the battlefields of the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945, their unwavering faith in victory, and the devotion of their mothers, wives, and sisters.

The film is based on real events from the life of Hayyrgul Hudayberdiyeva from the Hojambaz district in the Lebap region, who became the prototype for the main character, Arzygül. It covers her life in the village from the pre-war years to her final days, revealing such traits of Turkmen girls as modesty, hard work, loyalty to their word, and care for loved ones.

When the war began, Arzygül's brother was among the first to go to the front. The girl makes a vow to herself that she will not marry until her brother returns from the war. Arzygül's father, mother, and younger brother remain at home. They work tirelessly in the rear, doing everything they can to bring the war to an end as soon as possible. Arzygül takes on any job and works alongside the men.

Tragic events occur in the family – the father dies, followed by the mother, leaving Arzygül and her little brother as orphans. Despite the difficult times, the girl does not lose heart, works hard, and takes care of her brother. Over time, matchmakers begin to come to their house, and relatives try to marry Arzygül off, but she refuses, remaining true to her word. Eventually, her younger brother starts a family, and they have a son. They plan to name him after the older brother who went to the front, but Arzygül does not allow it, repeating: "My brother will definitely return from the war". Even in her old age, Arzygül carries a photograph of her beloved brother with her and talks to him mentally. Throughout her life, she never stops waiting for him and keeps her promise not to marry.

The creative team of the film "A Girl's Vow" believes that this poignant story of selfless devotion will resonate with audiences. The main themes of this film echo the themes of director Sahysalyh Bayramov's two previous films about participants in the Great Patriotic War and those who worked in the rear. These are the feature films "The Red Kurte" ("Gyzyl kürte") and "The Tree of Fate" («Daragt»), which were presented at international film festivals and received various awards.
