Myrat Artykov, Head of the International Electric Power Projects Department at the Ministry of Energy of Turkmenistan, held talks with Abdul Latif Mansour, Acting Minister of Water and Energy of Afghanistan, to discuss the TAP-500 project. The meeting was attended by the Ambassador of Turkmenistan to Afghanistan, Hoja Ovezov, and other officials from both countries, according to Eurasia Today.

During the negotiations, Abdul Latif Mansour highly praised the positive relations between the two countries and spoke favorably about the construction of the 500 kV Turkmenistan-Afghanistan power transmission line.

Emphasizing the importance of the international energy bridge TAP (Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan), he confirmed Afghanistan's readiness to implement this project and expressed hope that other aspects of the project would also be finalized soon through coordination and technical meetings to create conditions for practical launch.

In turn, Myrat Artykov informed about Turkmenistan's full readiness to implement TAP-500 and noted that a draft roadmap has been prepared to advance the project, after the approval of which practical steps will follow.

An important outcome of the meeting was the mutual agreement to establish a TAP project secretariat in Afghanistan. The two sides also agreed to organize a trilateral discussion with the participation of Turkmenistan, Afghanistan, and Pakistan to further discuss the project in the near future.

The meeting between representatives of Afghanistan and Turkmenistan took place after a trilateral meeting in Kabul with the participation of delegations from Afghanistan, Turkmenistan, and the Turkish holding group Çalik, organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Afghanistan.
