Construction of the first subway in Tajikistan to begin
The authorities of Tajikistan have announced plans to begin construction of the country's first subway in 2025.
"The preparation of the study for the technical and economic aspects will be completed in April–May 2025, and the detailed design for the subway construction will commence in June–July" stated the Ministry of Transport of the Republic of Tajikistan.
It is planned that the first line of the light metro in Dushanbe will be built from the southern outskirts of the city to the center, reaching the State Circus and the line will span 10.5 km.
In March 2022, Tajikistan's Minister of Transport, Azim Ibrahim, and the Chairman of the National Railway Company of South Korea, Kim Han Yong, signed a Memorandum of Understanding, which includes the metro project in Dushanbe.
