Ringo Starr: With a little help from friends - Let it be!

On the first day of the new year the website of the government of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland has informed its readers that Ringo Starr, the drummer of the legendary band The Beatles, was beknighted to "the dignity of Knight" "for his contribution to the development of musical art and charitable activities". The Order of the British Empire was established exactly one hundred years ago by King George V. Members of the legendary group "The Beatles" had already received this knightly order in 1965, when the average age of the members of the group was about 23 and a half years. (Surprisingly, this is the age of the modern graduate of the university). Back then, in almost half a century of the existence of this award, not a single pop musician before The Beatles was awarded such a high honor to possess it. True, the Beatles themselves, being playful pranksters, did not think of jumping to the skies for the joy of handing them the Order of the British Empire. The guys did not even have decent clothes for attending such serious events. When journalists during an interview on the eve of the award in 1965 let Ringo know that his everyday evening suit was not suitable for a royal reception, he did not hesitate to reply that he would go to Buckingham Palace in his pajamas. The Beatles did not really understand on what merits the queen was going to hand them the Order of the British Empire. John Lennon, for example, was perplexed, believing that in order to get such a reward it is necessary ... to command tanks and win wars. Therefore, the Liverpool rantipoles at first even wanted to give up the knightly order. However, the subjects of the whole United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland rejoiced for their favorites. All except, perhaps, the House of Lords - the reputable sirs were angry, believing that these "long-haired guys who fought themselves off" could drop the authority of the Order. Nevertheless, in the decree of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, the wording was unequivocal: "For the contribution to the development of British culture and its popularization throughout the world!" All four are residents of Liverpool. Including Ringo Starr, born in one of the poorest Liverpool neighborhoods. He, the last one who joined the "The Beatles", quickly gained popularity, and along with it, well-being. True, after the disintegration of the great band, he for some time was the most unsettled of the whole four. Ringo Starr even tried to trade by opening an expensive furniture store, believing that for the sake of his name, fans would not be stingy for spending. However, he did not excel as a businessman. Nevertheless, the undying rays of the glory of the legendary group helped him to gather crowds in solo concerts. Participation in show programs, mixed concerts, filming, etc. helped him not only to stay afloat, but also to succeed. And today Mr. Starr is by no means the poorest of Her Majesty's subjects, who own property in various countries of the world. Ringo was not only an excellent drummer - he also composed songs, although, he did it very rarely, compared to his musical brothers in the band. Moreover, he also sang. On vinyl it sounds pretty well. Although on concert records it is felt that Ringo often goes off pitch. And sometimes (especially when worried) the whole vocal melody reduces to the recitative, shouting the text almost on the same note. As it was with the song "Nowhere man". (Perhaps, rap owes its popularity to Ringo's unsuccessful attempts to become a great vocalist?). However, no one ever bothered with the fact that Ringo sometimes sang out of tune, because the fever of the crowded stands and the backing of the rest of the Beatles nullified his singing miscalculations. After the breakup of The Beatles, Ringo Starr, like other band members, made solo concerts. And invariably the highlight of his program was the song "With a little help from my friends", in which the bass line is a real little musical miracle of Paul McCartney's wizard. This song has an idea that if he - Ringo – fakes a tune (makes a mistake), then friends will come to his aid. Magnificent words of the remarkable song of one of the best rock albums of all time - "Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band!" "The Beatles" is not just a famous band. "The Beatles" is a legend of rock culture! And its origins! Reckless guys, in the opinion of the honorable lords, who got out of hand, without realizing it, created a new space in the modern youth culture. They, being in a frenzied race from an endless series of constant tours, changing hotels, cities, countries and continents, suddenly stopped, replacing concert activity by studio recordings. And then, but even more so after the breakup of the group, having finally started reading the press, they made an unexpected discovery: all their seemingly carefree life that seemed like a game, lead to the creation of a new great subculture. All their short-lived joint creativity, they jokingly scrambled onto a very steep mountain of perfection and glory. And when they reached the very top, beyond which there was nowhere to climb, they did not go down. Or wait until they were reached by all the other musical competitors. The band broke up, remaining forever and ever the unsurpassed rock legend, the life-giving energy of which still inspires the best directions of new music. A wonderful and to some extent sad album "Let it Be" fell into the hands of the fans of "The Beatles" after the collapse of the group. The same name song from this album was called by musicologists the Gospel of McCartney... For today, only two of the great four are left - Sir McCartney and already twice the order bearer Ringo Starr, who claims that he is ready to perform in concerts at his age of 77. I am sure that if he sings out of tune the famous "With a little help from my friends", then his friends, even those who are no longer alive, will certainly come to his aid. For it is the Law of the Universe according to which the Spirit invariably spiritualizes Matter. Even if this contradicts the stiff science, then still this Law holds the Universe of Sounds, where the merry and sonorous voices of four guys from Liverpool can still be heard. And so, Let it be!
