In 2024, the number of truck dispatches using the TIR (Transports Internationaux Routiers, International Road Transport) system from the China-Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Demonstration Zone reached 283. This information was provided by Qingdao Customs, according to Xinhua News Agency.

This data highlights the growth of international freight transport through this zone. In terms of value, the volume of goods transported amounted to 195 million-yuan, equivalent to approximately 27 million US dollars.

Within the TIR system, the fleet of trucks in the zone increased from 9 to 150 units, indicating a growing interest in using TIR.

In September 2023, a new road freight route connecting China and Russia was launched in the China-SCO Demonstration Zone, and four new routes were opened, including destinations in Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Belarus, and Kazakhstan. These changes underscore the active development of trade relations within the framework of the “Belt and Road” Initiative and the strengthening of economic cooperation between the SCO member states.

The TIR system, based on UN conventions, significantly simplifies customs procedures and facilitates more efficient cargo clearance, which makes international transport safer and faster.
