A new international film festival will appear in the CIS
A new international film festival called "Commonwealth" will be established within the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS). The initiative was proposed by Kazakhstan and supported by other CIS member states.
Drafts of the relevant documents were discussed on January 21 at a meeting of an expert group in Minsk.
The working group on cinematography prepared the documents, which were finalized and agreed upon at the meeting.
The film festival will be held with the aim of developing cooperation in the field of cinematography among the CIS countries and promoting national film industries. It will be held once every two years, alternately in each country, starting with Kazakhstan. A special award will be presented at the festival, which will further stimulate creative collaboration and exchange of experience between participants.
