In 2024, global gas demand reached a record level of 4.21 trillion cubic meters, a 2.8% increase compared to the previous year.

The main growth factors were the economic development of countries in the Asia-Pacific region, which accounted for almost 45% of the increase in demand. In particular, India saw a sharp increase in gas consumption for electricity generation, driven by abnormally high temperatures in the summer of 2024. In South America, especially in Brazil and Colombia, drought limited hydroelectric power generation, leading to an increased need for gas-fired power plants. In Europe, gas demand also recovered slightly.

Forecasts for 2025 suggest further demand growth of 2%, reaching 4.29 trillion cubic meters.
