Nigeria joins BRICS as a partner country

The Brazilian Foreign Ministry, as part of its BRICS presidency, announced the inclusion of Nigeria as a partner country.

A statement from the ministry’s press office, released on January 17, 2025, announced Nigeria’s formal accession to the group.

Brazilian officials stressed that both BRICS and Nigeria share common goals, including advancing cooperation among countries in the Global South and supporting reforms in international organizations.
