Turkmenistan is improving the training of English language teachers

From January 9 to 11, 2025, an international seminar on enhancing English language learning in Central Asia, organized at the initiative of the British organization "British Council", took place in the capital of Uzbekistan. From January 9 to 11, 2025, an international seminar on enhancing English language learning in Central Asia, organized at the initiative of the British organization "British Council", took place in the capital of Uzbekistan. This is reported on the website of the Ministry of Education of Turkmenistan.

Along with representatives from Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan, the event was also attended by a senior researcher from the National Institute of Education of Turkmenistan, English language teachers from the Turkmen State University named after Magtymguly and the Turkmen National Institute of World Languages named after D. Azadi.

The seminar was held at the Uzbek State University of World Languages and was aimed at improving the qualifications of specialists and English language teachers.

The international seminar discussed the role of continuous professional development and reflective practice within English language teacher training programs.

Key areas of the reform of English language teaching in public educational institutions were considered. Particular attention was paid to the importance of continuous professional development and reflective practice in the process of teacher training. Seminar participants noted the need to move from the transmission of theoretical knowledge to the formation of practical skills in the teacher training process, as well as the importance of updating curricula in accordance with international standards.
