Specialists discovered a fragment of a book clasp from the 18th-19th centuries during archaeological research in Krestovozdvizhensky Lane in Moscow, as reported by Alexei Emelyanov, the head of the Moscow Department of Cultural Heritage.

"Archaeological work in Krestovozdvizhensky Lane has been ongoing throughout the past year and continues to this day. During this time, specialists have managed to find around 320 individual items, one of which is a metal book clasp. This element was used to protect books from dust and light. Considering the age and location of the find, it can be assumed that it protected one of the church books from the Krestovozdvizhensky Monastery, which was dissolved in the early 19th century."

It is noted that the metal book clasp was decorated with a dotted pattern and had a shape resembling an opened tulip bud. It, along with other finds, has been sent for restoration, after which the artifacts will be incorporated into a collection and transferred to the museum fund.
