The best bookreaders of 2017 were determined in Ashgabat

The Ashgabat council of the youth organization named after Makhtumkuli together with the training center "Gujurly Nesil" organized the next stage of the reading competition "Bookworm" in the State Library of Turkmenistan. The contest was attended by more than 200 readers of different ages. The goal of the competition is to introduce young people to the library culture, open doors to the world of books and develop a love of reading.Muhammet KADYROV
The contest is conducted in three languages with books of various genres. After reading the selected book, the participants of the contest pass a special test that assesses how well they understood the meaning of the text, remembered the facts from the work, what thoughts they formed on the basis of what they read.
Competitions are held from 2016. To date, 5 competitions have been held, in which about 1,500 participants took part. This time the contestants in Turkmen read the novel of Atajan Takano "The Stranger", Ben Carson's novel "The Golden Hands" is selected for English language readers and in Russian contestants read Grigori Petrov's novel "Finland - a country of white lilies."
One of the young contestants, Gozel Aliyeva, told Orient: "I really like this contest. Of course, I want to win. This time I read Grigory Petrov's book, which is based on real events - very interesting and atmospheric. Thanks to this contest, I realized how exciting reading could be."
It is worth noting the active participation of the training center "Gujurly Nesil" in the organization and conduct of these competitions. "Books are the key to the world of knowledge," says Merdan Atayev, a teacher at the training center. "With the help of books, we can find answers to all our questions." It has been repeatedly proved that reading literature develops memory, imagination and creative thinking. The goal of this competition is to attract as many young people as possible and help them to plunge into the wonderful world of literature."
As a result of the contest, Gurbangeldi Gurbangeldiev took the first place in the Turkmen language, Pavel Vassenko in Russian, and Akmyrat Atadayev in English.
Winners were awarded with certificates from the youth organization named after Makhtumkuli and a certificate for training in the training center "Gujurly Nesil", and holders of second and third places received discounts for training in 50% and 20%.
