China aims to strengthen cooperation in the field of digital trade with the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), Central Asia, BRICS (a grouping of nine countries: Brazil, Russia, India, China, South Africa, UAE, Iran, Egypt, and Ethiopia), and the member states of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO).

This was stated in a document titled "Opinions on the Reform and Innovative Development of Digital Trade", published on Thursday by the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China and the State Council of the People's Republic of China.

According to the document, China intends to participate in the development of international rules for digital trade.

By 2035, the volume of trade in services provided in digital format is expected to account for over 50% of the total volume of trade in services in China. In addition, a well-ordered, safe, and efficient system for managing digital trade will be fully established in the country.

China also intends to actively participate in the activities of the World Trade Organization, the G20, the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC), and other multilateral and regional processes for developing digital trade rules with the aim of creating an open, fair, just, and non-discriminatory environment for digital development.

Cooperation between Central Asian countries and China in the field of digital trade is provided for in a corresponding memorandum signed on the sidelines of the first "Central Asia - China" summit in Xi'an (China) in May of last year.
