The President of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, described the state visit of Russian President Vladimir Putin as a historic event that marks an important milestone in the development of Kazakh-Russian relations. This was reported by Kazakhstan's international news agency, "Kazinform".

"For Kazakhstan, Russia is a strategic partner and a reliable ally. We are united by unbreakable bonds of friendship, centuries-old good neighborliness, and shared history. Based on these enduring values, our countries have built meaningful relationships focused on the future. Kazakh-Russian cooperation has reached unprecedented heights, covering virtually all key areas of interaction. The political dialogue is progressing steadily, trade and economic cooperation is expanding, and cultural and humanitarian ties are being strengthened. The meetings and negotiations held today in both narrow and expanded formats were marked by businesslike conduct, frankness, and were truly productive", said Tokayev.

He also reported that during detailed negotiations with Vladimir Putin, a wide range of relevant bilateral issues were discussed, and prospective directions for the strategic partnership between Kazakhstan and Russia were outlined.

According to him, priority attention during the talks was given to economic matters. The main tasks highlighted included deepening cooperation in strategic sectors and further increasing mutual trade turnover. A number of intergovernmental documents has already been adopted, including the Comprehensive Program for Economic Cooperation for 2021–2025 and the Plan for Joint Actions for 2024–2026.

Following the negotiations, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and Vladimir Putin adopted a Joint Statement on deepening strategic partnership in the context of the new global order.

Russian President Vladimir Putin invited Kassym-Jomart Tokayev to an informal pre-New Year’s meeting in St. Petersburg.
