Turkmenistan is studying Turkey's experience in the field of population statistics
From 25 to 30 November, 2024, a delegation of experts from Turkmenistan, consisting of representatives from the State Committee on Statistics of Turkmenistan, the Ministry of Health and Medical Industry, the Ministry of Justice of Turkmenistan, and civil registration organizations, is on a visit to Ankara, Turkey.
The visit is organized with the support of the UN Population Fund (UNFPA) Office in Turkmenistan, with the aim of studying Turkey's best practices in the field of population statistics and the digitalization of civil registration processes.
During the visit, the delegation is learning about the work of key government institutions in Turkey responsible for the collection and processing of demographic data. Experts are studying advanced population registration systems, such as the Central Civil Registration System (MERNİS), the National Address Database (NAD), and the Address-Based Population Registration System (ABPRS). Special attention is being given to Turkey's experience in conducting population censuses based on registers, as well as the operation of the civil registration system and the vital statistics system (CRVS).
Turkmen specialists are visiting the Civil Registration Office (CRO) to gain a detailed understanding of business processes, digital tools, and practices in interacting with the public. The delegation is also analyzing the possibilities for adapting and implementing advanced Turkish practices in Turkmenistan in order to improve the statistical accounting system and enhance the quality of demographic data.
The visit provides a platform for knowledge and experience exchange, as well as discussions on the prospects for joint research projects and collaboration in the field of population statistics. This event contributes to strengthening bilateral cooperation between Turkmenistan and Turkey in the field of population statistics and creates favorable conditions for the introduction of innovative technologies in this area in Turkmenistan.
