Turkmenistan and Iran discussed the development of cooperation in information technologies
During his visit to Ashgabat, Iranian Deputy Minister of Communications and Director General of Infrastructure Communications company Behzad Akbari held negotiations with the Director General of the Agency of Transport and Communications under the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan, Mammethan Chakyyev and Chairman of the “Turkmenaragatnashyk” Agency Hajymyrat Hudaygulyyev.
According to Iranian media reports, the meeting highlighted the achievements in the development of digital infrastructure in Iran, as well as discussed opportunities for cooperation, including the expansion of traffic transit through the territory of Turkmenistan and the IRI.
It was noted that both countries, due to their special geographical location, can play an important role in the development of digital infrastructure in the region.
The parties agreed to work together on these issues in a practical manner. Behzad Akbari, on behalf of Iran's Minister of Communications, Sayyid Sattar Hashemi, invited the heads of Turkmenistan's Communications sector to visit the International Telecommunications Exhibition in Tehran, which will take place from 3-6 January.
