Huawei has been operating in the Turkmen market for over 20 years. Projects based on the latest developments related to the deployment of optical home access networks and high-speed mobile communications (4G coverage) have been and are being implemented here, Allen Tang, Head of Sales Department for Marketing Solutions in the Middle East and Central Asia at Huawei said, in an interview with ORIENT on the sidelines of the Turkmentel-2024 forum.

He noted the country's achievements in digitalization and cited the example of Arkadag, which has received global recognition as an innovative city, recently winning three prestigious awards at the 2024 World Smart Cities Expo in Goyang, South Korea.

— We are deeply honored by the trust the government has placed in us to contribute to Arkadag’s advanced infrastructure. As we look to the second phase of Arkadag’s development, we are committed to bringing our global expertise to introduce advanced ICT technologies, including 5G and data centers, further strengthening the city’s digital transformation, — Allen Tang continued.

— At Turkmentel-2024, we present our latest solutions in the field of smart transport, digitalization of the oil and gas industry, cloud technologies and smart finance — that is, what, as we believe, will be in great demand in the further development of the digital economy of Turkmenistan. We believe that using the technologies that we have, our cooperation will help achieve significant success on this path,— Tang said.

Founded in 1987, Huawei has grown into a global technology leader, enabling digital transformation in over 170 countries and serving more than 3 billion people. With a workforce of 207,000 employees, Huawei's mission is to make digital technologies accessible for a fully connected, intelligent world.

In the first half of 2024, Huawei reported a 34.3% increase in revenue, reaching $57.7 billion, driven by growth in ICT, mobile devices, and automotive solutions.

— We reinvest over 10% of our revenue into R&D, with 55% of our workforce dedicated to innovation. According to him, Huawei is at the forefront of several major technological advancements.

— We’ve launched a full range of cloud-based AI capabilities, helping industries become more intelligent. Our Pangu model, for example, now outperforms European and American weather centers in forecasting accuracy. We’ve optimized HarmonyOS, which has become a leading ecosystem framework, with over 350 million Huawei devices now running on it. Through Huawei Digital Energy, we have generated nearly 1,000 billion kilowatt-hours of clean electricity, reducing carbon emissions by 495 million tons—equivalent to planting 680 million trees, - Allen Tang emphasized.

— We are also partnering with industry leaders to drive intelligent development in the automotive sector. Our smart car solutions have become the top choice in China, with vehicle sales surpassing 500,000, making us the No. 1 luxury car brand in China, ahead of many European manufacturers, - he added.

Allen Tang highlighted the Silk Road project as a strategic initiative, aimed at revitalizing the ancient trade routes by building a modern "Digital Silk Road," which plays an increasingly important role in the global economy.

— Turkmenistan, with its unique geographic position as a bridge between Asia and Europe, is well-placed to play a key role in the Digital Silk Road. By modernizing its WDM backbone network, Turkmenistan can establish itself as a leading digital hub in the region, - Allen Tang concluded.
