Valuable Akhal-Teke horses arrived in China from Kazakhstan
21 Akhal-Teke horses have been exported from Kazakhstan and successfully arrived in North-West Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region of China.
After a two-day trip from Kazakhstan, 18 adult horses and 3 foals arrived at Jeminay border pass in the Altai Prefecture and will be placed in Urumqi for a 45-day quarantine, Xinhua news agency reported referring to the importer company “Xinjiang Yema Group”.
The horse-breeding division of the corporation imports horses of the Akhal-Teke breed from Kazakhstan and Russia since 2009. There are 120 heads of purebloods in the stables of the group.
In China, the Turkmen Akhal-Teke are treated with special reverence. These horses awe well-known all around the world for their grace, speed, endurance and devotion. Celestial horses in the PRC were named “Han Xue Ma”, which translates as “blood-sweating horses”. An unusual name is explained by the fact that during a rapid movement, the blood vessels are defined through the delicate, almost transparent skin, and the glands of the neck and shoulders emit a redish liquid.
