“Turkmentel-2024” presents the ambitious plans of Turkmenistan in the field of digital technologies
Today, at the annual international conference “Turkmentel-2024”, the Chairman of the “Turkmencommunications” (Türkmenaragatnaşyk) agency, Hajymyrat Hudaygulyyev, delivered a report highlighting the importance of digitalization for the development of the country and the region as a whole. He discussed key projects being implemented in Turkmenistan in the field of information and communication technologies, as well as plans for the future.
The agency head particularly emphasized the launch of the country's first "smart city" Arkadag, which has become an example of the successful implementation of advanced technologies and artificial intelligence-based systems. The city integrates digital platforms that manage infrastructure and government services, ensuring its international recognition in the field of urban planning.
Hudaygulyyev also reported significant achievements in expanding the internet infrastructure, noting that Turkmenistan has achieved 100% coverage of settlements with high-speed internet and is actively exploring the possibility of implementing 5G technologies. An important step has been the development of fiber-optic communication lines, including the project for the construction of the international "Serhetabat - Herat" communication line, which will enhance the country’s transit potential and improve connectivity with neighboring states.
In the context of international cooperation, he highlighted the collaboration with the United Nations Development Program (UNDP), particularly the project "Promoting the Implementation of an Interagency Electronic Information Exchange System in Turkmenistan", which involves the implementation of the X-Road platform, significantly improving interagency cooperation.
Significant efforts are being made to create conditions for thorough and effective exploration of AI capabilities and its integration across all sectors of the country, as well as its incorporation into the science and education system.
A key aspect of the report was cybersecurity, in which Turkmenistan is also actively developing infrastructure. The agency continues to work on creating secure digital platforms and implementing modern data protection technologies.
Additionally, the agency head emphasized the importance of developing international cooperation and called for joint efforts in the areas of 5G, space projects, cybersecurity, and training specialists in information technology and artificial intelligence.
The conference “Turkmentel-2024” became an important platform for exchanging experiences and discussing the prospects for the development of digital technologies in the region. In concluding his speech, the minister expressed hope for productive cooperation and the implementation of innovative solutions that will help build a sustainable digital future.
