Turkmenistan won 6 medals at the World Sambo Championship in Astana
Turkmen sambists demonstrated excellent results at the World Sambo Championship held in Astana, Kazakhstan, from 8 to 10 November. In total, the Turkmen team won six medals, including 1 gold, 2 silver, and 3 bronze.
The gold medal for the Turkmen team was won by Muminjan Arzikulov, who became the best in the combat sambo discipline in the 71 kg category. This achievement was a bright moment of the tournament for the whole team.
The «Silver» at the World Championship was won by Bagul Nuryyeva, who distinguished herself in combat sambo in the weight category up to 50 kg, and Sabina Agajanova, who took second place among women over 80 kg, also in this discipline.
Bronze medals were brought to the Turkmen national team: Kambar Umarov (sports sambo, up to 71 kg), as well as Zarina Abdyrahmanova (combat sambo, up to 54 kg) and Gulzada Jorakulieva (combat sambo, up to 72 kg).
The World Championships in Astana gathered about 470 athletes from 80 countries, which emphasizes the high level of competition.
