The subsidiary of the national oil and gas company of Kazakhstan, “KazMunayGas”, KMG Drilling & Services, has signed a contract with Dragon Oil for drilling services in the Turkmen sector of the Caspian Sea. Askhat Khasenov, the chairman of the board of “KazMunayGas”, announced this at the International Conference on "Oil and Gas of Turkmenistan" in Ashgabat.

Within the framework of the project at the Cheleken field, the Kazakh marine self-elevating drilling rig Satti will be used for the first time. The self-elevating floating drilling rig Satti is the first marine drilling installation designed in Kazakhstan and built at a shipyard in the Mangistau region.

The installation is 72 meters long, 64 meters wide and 119 meters high, which corresponds to the height of a 26-storey building. The total weight of the installation is 10.8 thousand tones. In connection with the upcoming work in Ashgabat opened a branch of KMG Drilling and Services (a subsidiary of JSC “NC “KazMunayGas”, which owns the SEDR Satti), which will allow more operative activities in Turkmenistan.

Additionally, the head of the national company proposed to consider "KazMunayGas" as a potential partner for drilling, workover and underground maintenance of wells.
